Mid Back Strength is SO Important for Musicians
When it comes to musician specific strength, one of the most important areas is the shoulder blade.
In the Musician’s Health Basics Course, you learned the Shoulder Blade Squeeze on Stomach exercise. It is a great exercise and if you’ve done it for a while, you may be ready to progress a little.
If you are ready for something a little harder, the “T” Exercise is one of my favorite next steps.
Watch the video below and try 1-3 sets of 5 reps, 1-3 days per week. If that feels good, you can progress and gradually build strength in this very important area.
If you are looking for a more complete strength progression, check out the Musician Specific Strength Program.

One Quick Question for You…
I have ONE question I’d like to ask you. If you have 30 seconds, it would mean a lot.
If I were to dedicate the next issue of the newsletter to you and the challenge you’re currently facing…what would that issue be?
Just hit reply! I respond to every email that hits my inbox.
Thanks!
2 Exercises for Headaches
Neck pain and headaches are two of the most common issues musicians face. Long hours on instrument with a sustained position can create quite a bit of tension right at the base of the skull.
Here are two nice exercises that may help you release some of that tension.
- Chin Tuck – Look Up: 5-10 times depending on how it feels.
- Neck Stretch: 15-30 seconds. Remember to breathe and relax.
Run through these exercises 1-3 times through either after a practice session, a long rehearsal, or just at the end of the day and I bet you’ll feel a little better.

Free Self Care Round Table
Self care is one of those things that we all say is important, but forget to actually do.
Here’s a great opportunity to hear from 3 experts in the musician’s wellness space to get their perspective on why musicians get burnt out, what burnout looks like, and how to combat it.
Registration is free and the round table is scheduled for July 20, 2022.
